Frequently asked questions
What is a beacon?
A beacon is a plan you put on the map: what you want to do, where, and roughly when — “pickup basketball this evening,” “coffee and a walk downtown this weekend.” People nearby who are into the same thing see it, and when someone bites, Beacon helps you turn it into an actual plan.
How do I report or block someone?
You can report any profile, beacon, or message with the flag icon on it. To block someone, open their profile and choose Block User — they won’t be able to see or contact you. Every report is reviewed by our team.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. You’ll confirm with a one-time code, and your account and associated personal data are permanently erased.
How is my location shared?
Your location is private by default. Personal beacons only feed an anonymous neighborhood heatmap — no one ever sees a pin at your location. You share precise location only deliberately, around a meetup you’ve joined, so people can find each other. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
Who can use Beacon?
Beacon is for adults 18 and older.
